Christmas Markets in Prague 2022
The time of Christmas Markets is finally here, and this year we can enjoy them to the fullest again. Where to go to experience the Advent atmosphere at the magical Prague Christmas markets? Traditionally, the largest Christmas markets in Prague and in the Czech Republic are on Old Town Square and Republic Square. But you will find many other Christmas markets in different parts of Prague. Let’s see where to find a great mulled wine, traditional Christmas treats and other Christmas products.
Prague 1
Christmas Market at Old Town Square
The Prague Christmas Markets on the Old Town Square are deservedly praised as one of the most beautiful in the world. The magical atmosphere of a true Czech Christmas is enhanced by the area of the historic heart of the city. At the markets, you can visit nativity scenes, stalls with typical Christmas goods with an emphasis on Czech raw materials and products, as well as examples of traditional folk crafts.
Old Town Square is decorated with Prague’s main Christmas tree, which this year is 25 meters high and traveled to Prague all the way from the Usti Region from the village of Kytlice. It was dressed in a Christmas coat with a 6 km long chain of LED lights, 80 poinsettias, 170 red and gold balls symbolizing the official colors of the city of Prague, and its crown is decorated with a 2 meter high light top. The Christmas tree lights up daily from 4 p.m. to midnight and offers a different light animation every half hour.

Christmas Market at Wenceslas Square – lower part
Wenceslas Square is of course a right place where you can visit Christmas markets even in two locations. In the lower part of Wenceslas Square, you can look forward to a festively lit Christmas tree and stalls with popular Christmas dishes as well as examples of traditional folk crafts.

Christmas Market at Wenceslas Square – upper part
Christmas market in the upper part of Wenceslas Square will create a Christmas atmosphere with a wide range of craft gifts from the workshops of non-profit organizations, Christmas refreshments and musical performances.

Christmas Market at Republic Square
Traditional Christmas market will also take place on Republic Square in front of the Palladium shopping centre. In the stalls under the festively decorated Christmas tree, you can buy mainly Christmas goods and Czech handicrafts – Christmas decorations, cutters for Chrismtas sweets, candles, Advent wreaths and Christmas-themed goods, as well as classic Christmas snacks.

Christmas Market at Prague Castle
Prožijte adventní atmosféru na vánočních trzích na Pražském hradě na náměstí U Svatého Jiří za katedrálou sv. Víta, Václava a Vojtěcha. Na vánočních nákupy tu na vás bude čekat přes 20 dřevěných stánků s kvalitními produkty, vánočními specialitami a poctivým svařeným vínem. Chybět nebude ani bohatý doprovodný program, a to například kovář, ražba mincí, malování ozdobiček a výrobky z ovčí vlny.

Christmas Market at Marianske Square
This year, for the first time, the Advent market is also on Marianske Square. The 8-meter-high Christmas tree is decorated with balls in the colors of the capital city – red and gold. In the square in front of the New Town Hall you will also find a wooden nativity scene and Baby Jesus’s heavenly office, where children can write and send a letter with their wishes.
In 8 decorated wooden stands, you can buy a typical Christmas products from sellers from the ranks of charitable and non-profit organizations or sheltered workshops – Advent wreaths, ornaments and many other gift items. On the weekend, an cultural program awaits you on stage, where children from the city’s primary art schools and children’s and youth homes will also perform.

Christmas Market at Kampa at Lesser Town
For the Christmas atmosphere, it is also possible to go to Kampa right next to the Charles Bridge. Here you will find stalls with folk crafts and farm delicacies.

Christmas Market at Square Miru
At the traditional Christmas market on Square Miru in front of the church of St. Ludmila, there is a nice Christmas atmosphere accompanied by a beautiful Christmas tree, a carved Vinohrad nativity scene and stalls with Christmas gifts and popular snacks. Come and enjoy famous mulled wine, mead and other Christmas products.

Christmas Market at Andel, Smichov
The Smichov Christmas market in the area near the Andel metro station will offer a traditional Christmas products in decorated wooden stands, including traditional crafts, handmade products, farm products and, of course, refreshments. There will also be a decorated Christmas tree and an accompanying program in the form of handicraft workshops.

Advent Markets at Kulatak, Vitezne Square
Every Saturday and also on Thursday 22.12. Advent markets will be held in Vitezne Square (called Kulatak), where you can buy a wide range of classic assortment such as snacks, mulled wine, excellent coffee, hot ciders, vegetables, pastries, freshwater and sea fish, meat, sausages, cheeses, various types of sweets (including gluten-free options), wine, roasted chestnuts, Advent wreaths, flowers, Christmas decorations, mistletoe and small design gifts. You can also buy various types of ceramics, natural cosmetics, wooden or knitted toys, children’s clothing, children’s books, small jewelry and accessories, leather products and glass ornaments.

Advent Market at Karlinske Square
Every Advent Sunday, the Christmas Market in Karlin will bring you the Christmas atmosphere. Come and get in the mood for Christmas at the advent markets with the smell of mulled wine, Bethlehem, carols, lots of delicacies and a cultural program. You can look forward to the making of Christmas decorations and children will be able to write a letter to Santa and there will also be singing performances by local schools and choirs.
